10/16/2009 - Frisco, TX (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Colorado Rapids can take a major step toward clinching a spot in the 2009 Major League Soccer playoffs with a win on Saturday night vs. FC Dallas.
The Rapids (10-8-10) have earned four draws in a row to put their playoff spot in a precarious position, including a 1-1 tie vs. New England on Oct. 3 in their last league fixture.
"We've now drawn four in a row, and I think we all know the fine lines between drawing and nicking a result," Rapids coach Gary Smith said. "We hit the crossbar [vs. New England]. We created enough clear-cut chances to really take the game, and we conceded from a set piece. So the lines are very fine, and at this stage of the season they don't get any finer than two games to go and two points needed."
FC Dallas (10-12-6), which has won three straight and four of five, but are still two points out of a playoff spot. If New England beats Chicago earlier in the day, anything but a win by Dallas will eliminate them from playoff contention.
The Hoops are coming off a 2-1 effort at San Jose that kept their slim postseason dreams alive. If they are going to be successful on Saturday, they will need in-form striker Jeff Cunningham to continue the torrid scoring pace he has been on since striker Kenny Cooper transferred to Germany. In 13 games since Cooper left, Cunningham has scored 16 of his league-leading 17 goals, while also contributing 5 assists.
"When he was given the opportunity to be the so-called 'man,' of the team, the difference-maker, he really stepped up," Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman said. "But you also have to identify what a great job David Ferreira has also done. The two of them have really been on the same page."
Cunningham actually scored the game-winner - his MLS-record 36 game deciding goal - vs. San Jose last week.
"I had two clear, good chances in the first half that normally, in the form I'm in, would have gone in," Cunningham said. "After that, you're taught as a striker to forget about those [missed] opportunities but I couldn't shake them. Finally, at the end, Dax [McCarty] rewarded me with a tap-in, and it's a game-winner."
Dallas will be playing without defender Anthony Wallace because of injury, while Colorado will be without Mehdi Ballouchy and Julien Baudet because of suspension, and midfielders Colin Clark, Jacob Peterson and Jamie Smith because of injury.

Albert Pujols to be This Year's Home Run Champ Says Online Sportsbook
Barry Bonds is a 50-1 long shot to be this year's home run champ odds. The favorite to be this year's home run champ is none other than Albert Pujols, however.
Now that Barry Bonds is signed and in Giants camp, it is on to his pursuit of all of sports most prestigious records: the all-time home run mark. Bonds sits just 21 homers shy of tying Hank Aaron for the career mark at 755. Word out of Giants’ camp is that Bonds is the healthiest he has been in a few years. Bonds is just two seasons removed from his injury riddled 2005 campaign where he played in only 14 games and hit only 5 home runs. He did come back last year and had a solid season hitting .270 with 26 bombs. All eyes will be on Bonds this spring and summer not only because of his home run chase but his highly publicized steroid abuse allegations. If and when Bonds breaks the record, he surely will not get the positive attention one should for breaking a record that was once thought of as “unbreakable”. Despite Bonds decent season last year, he is just 50-1 at MySportsbook.com to lead the MLB in long balls this season.
Not surprisingly, the favorites to go deep the most times this season are Albert Pujols 5-1, Ryan Howard 6-1, David Ortiz 8-1 and Alex Rodriguez 12-1. With 49 homers, Pujols finished second in the National League behind Howard (58). Pujols is considered the favorite due to the consistent power numbers that he has posted since breaking into the league in 2001. Also one must consider the fact that he played in 16 fewer games then Howard did due to an injury. Howard smashed 58 homers in his first complete season of big league play en route to the National League MVP odds award. He silenced his critics by successfully hitting left-handed pitching. Howard also displayed the ability to use his power to the opposite field. Two attributes which should keep Howard amongst the league leaders in long balls for years to come. From the American League representatives, David Ortiz leads the field. Ortiz was second in the majors last year with 54 home runs. Except for 1999 when he only played in 10 games, Ortiz has improved on his home run numbers each year he has been in the majors (1997).

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Odds
Will he or won't he? Now that the Dallas Cowboys have a new head coach in Wade Phillips, the big question will be: Does Terrell Owens stay with the team.
Jerry Jones continues to suggest that Terrell Owens will remain with the team.
"I've said that he's back, he's here, he's under contract," Jones said. "In the interviews I've just been through (to hire a new coach), it was very clear to me how highly he's thought of and how much of an impact he had on our offensive success."
Just to be sure though, Terrell Owens cleared out his locker and removed his name plate.
Terrell Owens was among the Cowboys most productive players this past season, catching 85 passes for 1,180 yards and a league-best 13 touchdowns.
But T.O. is due a $3 million roster bonus in June, then a $5 million salary this season. Cutting him before then would save a lot of money and headaches.
Aside from the questions surrounding Terrell Owens, the oddsmakers at MySportsbook.com have concerns over starting quarterback Tony Romo's state of mind and whether he will remain a starting quarterback. It is also not known how players will adjust to new head coach, Wade Phillips.
Here are the football odds as seen at MySportsbook.com and subject to change after February 10, 2007 if not locked in prior to that date.
