Polanco returns for Phils

Polanco has not played since June 25 due to inflammation in his left elbow. He had been playing through the injury after getting hit by a pitch, but anti- inflammatories and cortisone shots did not remedy the issue.

Through 62 games this season, the 34-year-old veteran was batting .318 with five home runs and 27 RBI. He was the leading vote-getter among National League third basemen in All-Star balloting prior to his injury.

To make room on the roster, the club gave infielder Juan Castro his unconditional release.

Castro has been a serviceable injury replacement for a battered Phillies infield this season, playing shortstop, second base and third while hitting .198 with 13 RBI in 54 games.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska running back Marlon Lucky was hospitalized Monday for undisclosed reasons after Lincoln police responded to a call at his residence.

The Nebraska athletic department said in a release Monday that Lucky was admitted Sunday night.

American Idol Betting Odds: Season 6
