Georgia's Jackson to transfer following arrest

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -Dontavius Jackson, one of two Georgia players arrested on alcohol-related charges last week, is transferring from the university after spring semester.

Coach Mark Richt suspended Jackson for at least six games after the sophomore was charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and other motor vehicle offenses early Saturday morning.

Jackson, a backup running back, had four carries for 38 yards in 2009.

Richt announced Jackson's plans to transfer on Wednesday.

Sophomore split end Tavarres King, a returning starter, was charged with underaged possession of alcohol and has been suspended for at least one game.Copyright © 2005 The Associated Press. Out west, 22nd-ranked Arizona State will be battling for their first victory over 21st-ranked California since 2000. Although the Golden Bears are listed as 7.5-point favorites, the Sun Devils are 3-0, lead the nation in sacks with 18 and possess the Pac-10's leading passer in sophomore quarterback Rudy Carpenter.
