09/06/2007 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The NL Central-leading Chicago Cubs will try for a series split with the Los Angeles Dodgers this afternoon in the finale of a four-game set from historic Wrigley Field.
Chicago entered the series on a two-game winning streak but dropped the first two meetings versus the Dodgers. The Cubs, who own just a half-game lead over Milwaukee in the Central, then posted an 8-2 win on Wednesday, as Mark DeRosa finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored to lead the way.
Cubs starter Ted Lilly held the Dodgers to six hits and two runs through 6 2/3 innings for the win, fanning three and walking one. Aramis Ramirez homered for Chicago, which has a two-game edge over St. Louis in the division standings.
Taking the hill today for the Cubs will be Jason Marquis, who is 11-8 with a 4.20 ERA in 28 starts this season. Marquis is 3-1 in his last five starts and beat Houston on September 1, allowing two runs in 6 2/3 innings of a 4-3 victory.
The right-hander, who is 8-3 in 15 home starts this season, owns a 2-1 mark with a 2.20 earned run average through seven career games (six starts) against the Dodgers.
Los Angeles is still alive in the playoff hunt and is tied with Philadelphia at three games off the pace for the NL wild card lead. In Wednesday's setback in the Windy City, LA starter Eric Stults gave up eight hits and four runs -- three earned -- in 4 1/3 innings for the loss with two strikeouts and two walks. He went 2-for-2 at the plate.
Mike Lieberthal went 1-for-3 and scored twice for the Dodgers, who saw their three-game win streak come to an end.
Derek Lowe will try to get back in the win column when he takes the mound for the Dodgers on Thursday. Lowe had a personal three-game winning streak halted the last time out on September 1 at Sam Diego. Lowe was reached for seven runs, six of which were earned, in 4 1/3 innings of a 7-0 loss at Petco Park.'
Loe, a right-hander, is 1-1 with a 3.58 earned run average in five career starts against the Cubs.
The Dodgers won two of three over the Cubs when the two squads met in Los Angeles in late May. Chicago is 10-8 versus the Dodgers since the start of the 2005 season.

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Odds
Will he or won't he? Now that the Dallas Cowboys have a new head coach in Wade Phillips, the big question will be: Does Terrell Owens stay with the team.
Jerry Jones continues to suggest that Terrell Owens will remain with the team.
"I've said that he's back, he's here, he's under contract," Jones said. "In the interviews I've just been through (to hire a new coach), it was very clear to me how highly he's thought of and how much of an impact he had on our offensive success."
Just to be sure though, Terrell Owens cleared out his locker and removed his name plate.
Terrell Owens was among the Cowboys most productive players this past season, catching 85 passes for 1,180 yards and a league-best 13 touchdowns.
But T.O. is due a $3 million roster bonus in June, then a $5 million salary this season. Cutting him before then would save a lot of money and headaches.
Aside from the questions surrounding Terrell Owens, the oddsmakers at MySportsbook.com have concerns over starting quarterback Tony Romo's state of mind and whether he will remain a starting quarterback. It is also not known how players will adjust to new head coach, Wade Phillips.
